ABOUT ME AND MY ART

My body of work is drawn (and sometimes painted) with emotion and love. It brings me great peace and joy in knowing I not only created something beautiful that I enjoy, but something that will live on forever and hopefully bring joy to others.

“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.” – Thomas Merton

In my case art has helped to shape who I am today, it has coloured my world in so many ways … in both music, particularly voice, and in painting and drawing, it has helped me through some stressful hurdles in my life and has been a humbling, cathartic experience.

WHY ART?

Whether music, dance, poetry, photography, drawings, or paintings, people appreciate art in many different ways. Some, like me, enjoy being directly involved in the creation of the art, and there are others who enjoy experiencing and appreciating it.

Whatever the case, art plays an integral role in how we see and interact with others and the world in general. It helps us emotionally, financially, psychologically, and often helps to shape our individual personalities.

I hope you enjoy browsing through my gallery and that some of my work resonates with you.

Many of my pieces are for sale, sometimes both the original artwork and/or prints, and some are not (because they were probably done as commission pieces or already sold). If you would like to commission a portrait with Carol Orrock Art please contact me and we can arrange to go through the requirements and costs.

~ A JOURNEY IN ART ~

MY STORY

Although I indulged in the arts a little throughout school, and thoroughly enjoyed music, my journey into art, in earnest, wasn’t until I was 17 years old, when my Mum convinced me to study voice. But I soon realised my social life took priority so I put studying voice on hold for a while and didn’t resume until my 30’s when I needed the joy that music brought me. So back to studying classical voice, which I love. As a Mezzo Soprano I had a strong voice and enjoyed local amateur musical theatre and singing jazz. At the same time I delved into some casual painting classes along with ceramics lessons and spent a great deal of time loving everything about those and so many other mediums too, like watercolour and pastels.

In recent years I have spent more and more time enjoying the art of coloured pencils and much of my recent work is in that medium. It brings me peace and great satisfaction and I hope you enjoy my work.
